There were 46 sales of detached homes. That’s a 24% increase over September of last year and coincides with a similar uptick in activity in Vancouver. This marks just the 2nd month out of the last 18 where the sales total is more than the corresponding month from the year before. The YTD total is 371, down 12% from the 421 sales in 2018. Yet, the Benchmark Price – that is, the price of an average home in an average area – rose 1.8% to $594,900. For us, these ups and downs indicate volatility and make the market difficult to predict. We have another statistic for you. According to the Real Estate Board, the RE/MAX organization has sold 1 out of every 2 homes sold on the Sunshine Coast this year*. That’s a lot of selling!
